Pub Les Gens que j'aime

Review: Les Gens Que J’aime

Right next to the charming Grand Place and the busy street De Brouckère, lies one of my favorite places to hang out after a long day. It’s at Les Gens Que J’aime Café where I go having drinks with some old friends, colleagues or schoolmates. It’s where I work on school papers until closing time. It’s where I go eat lunch or have dinner when I’m hungry.

Les Gens Que J’aime must be one of the coziest pubs of Brussels I visited.

You must think I’m crazy, working on school papers in a pub right in the middle of the city center, and I can’t blame you. The calming noise of people talking, laughing and discussing mixed with music from a Spotify playlist makes the perfect background sound for me to stay focused.

Other than working for school, it’s the perfect place to hang out, drink and eat. Upstairs you can find the comfiest vintage sofas. They are perfect for snuggling up against your boyfriend, girlfriend, date, friends, it doesn’t matter. You have a nice view upstairs on the street and the ground floor of the bar. The bar is located on the ground floor. The main hall contains some colorful tables and chairs.

The staff is super friendly, they will help you and inform you on all matters. Make sure to order the French fries with mayonnaise, because they are so good and definitely worth it. They have an interesting menu with lots of choices. The basic hamburger, soup of the day, salads even desserts. Les Gens Que J’aime offers a variety of Belgian beers, classic soft drinks and coffee.

The only negative point I found is that they only accept cash. It can be quite annoying sometimes because the only ATM is next to the Ancienne Belgique, the concert hall in front of the bar. On a regular day there’s mostly a long queue in front of the building. When you visit Les Gens Que J’aime, make sure to bring all the cash you need.

Les Gens Que J’aime is located in the heart of Brussels, the street is called Rue du Midi and the street number is fifteen. It’s a ten-minute walk from the Central station or a five-minute walk from the metro station De Brouckère. The bar is opened every day from 12 until midnight. Only on Mondays is Les gens Que J’aime closed.
